Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 is dangerous for Europe.
According to him, Warsaw is confident that due to the gas pipeline, the Kremlin will receive more opportunities for further pressure on Ukraine and the European Union.
“We point out these risks, the possibility of blackmail and the possibility of tightening the energy loop around the neck of our neighbor, Ukraine. We are trying to work out solutions with German partners that would respond to these risks,” Morawiecki said.
The Nord Stream-2 project includes the construction and operation of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The gas pipeline bypasses Ukraine. On September 10, Russia announced the completion of construction. Nord Stream-2 will be launched after certification, according to forecasts, in early 2022.
